Awakening Gratitude Retreat - September 2026

"If the only prayer you said in your life was 'thank you' - that would suffice. Meister Eckhart

A mindful weekend

Practicing gratitude can be very positive for our lives. It has far-reaching effects, from improving our mental health to boosting our relationships with others.

MindWise and Maputo-based yoga teacher, Lisa Chatman of Lisa Yvonne Yoga, have together developed a weekend retreat at Humbi Farm in Xai-Xai to focus on how to bring more gratitude into our daily living, and how we can be grateful for what life presents us – whatever is here.

It will take place during the September long-weekend in Mozambique, with Friday September 25th being a public holiday, in the beautiful surroundings of Humbi Farm close to Xai-Xai.

Humbi Farm is a unique space in Xai-Xai, southern Mozambique, where sustainability, hospitality, and creativity come together to offer an unforgettable experience.

This 100% off-grid luxury accommodation is designed for those looking to disconnect from the noise and reconnect with nature, the community, and themselves. Perfect for our retreat.

More than just a place to stay, Humbi Farm is a purpose-driven project: every visit directly contributes to the development of the local community through the Khanimambo Foundation, supporting the education and well-being of hundreds of children and their families.

During this weekend we will focus on:

  • Recognising and waking up to the good things we have received
  • Practicing saying ‘thank you’ to the gifts we have received from other people and the world around us and our interconnectedness and dependency we have with people and places in our lives
  • Being grateful for everything that is here, including the challenges in our lives, independent of our liking or disliking them

In this unique retreat you will find yourself in the perfect place for relaxation and being thankful.

Food will come from Humbi’s own permaculture garden – an organic, homemade dining experience crafted with fresh produce from the farm and local fishermen.

Humbi offers several inspiring and versatile spaces where you can relax and disconnect, including a lounge, dining room, library, pool-garden, and panoramic terrace.

Its beautiful and meticulously-crafted dome accommodations are inspired by nature, in harmony with the surroundings.
